    Visual Arts Exhibition: The Grade 12 Visual Arts class mounted a show at T.A.N. coffee this past Saturday. The exhibition will be on display until the end of February, so if you have a chance, please pop in to see some excellent art work by our talented senior class.

    VALLEY INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION

    2012 Summer School Information for Parents and Students

     

    Date:  Tuesday, July 2nd – Monday, July 15th, 2013

     

    NEW Location:  CENTRAL KINGS RURAL HIGH SCHOOL, CAMBRIDGE                                                      

     

    Time:  9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

     

    Subjects: 

     

    English (Academic & Communications)

    Mathematics (Academic, Foundations and Essentials)

    Grades 9-12

     

    Cost:

     

    - $250.00 per student or $300.00 if taking a bus

     

    - This amount is to be paid on the first morning of Summer School by cash or money order

      Money Orders should be made payable to Valley Institute of Education   

     

    - A registration form (located in the Guidance Dept of your school) should accompany your fee on the

      morning of Tuesday, July 2nd. Receipts will be issued at that time.

     

    PERSONAL CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

     

     

    Assessments:

     

    Each teacher works diligently to cover the outcomes set forth in the curriculum guide to help

    prepare the student for his or her next level of education. In all courses, assessments are both

    formative and summative in nature and occur on a daily basis. Each student will earn a mark

    based on his or her ability to achieve the outcomes assessed.

     

     

    Registration:

     

    Please inform potential Summer School students that they can register in one of the following ways:

     

    1. Through their own school before noon on Friday, June 28th

     

    2. Contacting the Summer School coordinator, Stan MacVicar at stan.macvicar@avrsb.ca

     

    3. On site at the CENTRAL KINGS CAFETERIA between 8:20-9:00 on Tuesday, July 2nd

     

     

    Attendance:

     

    Attendance at Summer School is compulsory

     

    Transportation:

     

    A bus will run from Annapolis Royal to CENTRAL KINGS and one from Hants West to CENTRAL KINGS.

       

    A schedule of stops will be available at the school office. The fee is $50.

     

    Other:

     

    a)   A student may register for only one course at Summer School per year

     

    b)   Students can earn summer school credits for the same subject in different years of study.

         Ex.: Math 9 in 2010, Math 11 in 2012

     

    c)   A student cannot take a course in Summer School in which he or she has not been enrolled

     

    d)   A student must have a mark of 35% in the subject in which they are registering to attend Summer School

     

    e)   It is possible for a student to attend Summer School to improve a mark which is over 50%.

     

     

    IMPORTANT:  When registering for a course please be specific.

                               Ex.:  Math 10 Academic OR Math 10 Foundations

    The eastern bus will pick-up students from West Hants Middle School, travel to Avonview High School, to Hantsport School, through Wolfville, into New Minas, along Highway #101, and onto Highway #1 to CENTRAL KINGS

     

    The fee for bus transportation is $50.00 and must be paid the first day of Summer School along with the registration fee.

     

    Dismissal time from CENTRAL KINGS is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.  The last day of Summer School is scheduled for Monday, July 15th.

     

    This schedule is for first day of school only. The driver will confirm any changes of times or stops made to accommodate students.

     

     


  • Music Registration Night

    MUSIC REGISTRATION NIGHT - June 12TH 6:30PM


    Drop off PINK ENVELOPES or fill out forms on site.  Register only and pay $50.00 now, $75.00 Instrument Rental Fee will be due in September. The required 10 points on the Volunteer form is due ASAP, or pay for everything at once $125.00 (plus Optional $50.00 Donation instead of Volunteering). Please check the appropriate line on your forms to receive a receipt.  Receipts will be sent home with the students in November 2013 upon payment of both Registration and Rental. If you have any questions please call 866-0504.
