    Main Office

    LifeTouch will return for second semester during the week of February 22 -26, 2016 to take pictures for graduating students new to the school and any retakes that are needed for grads that already had pictures done. Please bring your old proofs with you if you are having retakes done.  Online registration www.lifetouch.ca/mygradphotos should be up in the next week or so

     

    Student Services

    All potential Grade 11 and 12 students are encouraged to attend the school Advanced Placement orientation sessions being held February 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 125 to hear more about the AVRSB AP Program.  Students can also visit http://www.avrsbvap.myavrsb.ca/ for further information.  Interested students are asked to sign up at Student Services.  This session is open to parents, as well.

     

    Representatives from Saint Mary's University will be at the Old Orchard Inn March 2 and will also be hosting Open Houses in February and March.  Please visit Student Services website for more information

     

    A representative, along with Cape Breton University Athletics, are hosting a Meet & Greet at the Slumber Inn, New Minas, February 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CBU is inviting all high school students and their families to talk with current CBU Athletes, Coaches and Recruitment staff!  The representative will be happy to answer any academic related questions, while the Athletics team can answer any varsity athletics questions.  The first 20 students will receive a FREE ticket to the Acadia vs. CBU basketball games on February 6 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.  To RSVP email Alana Lawrence at alana_lawrence@cbu.ca .

    Fine Arts

    Stage Band will rehearse today at the beginning of lunch in the Band Room.

     

    There will be Footloose rehearsal after school today in the Music Room, 3:30-5:15.  Full cast call to continue the music work through for the opening number.

    The We Act group will meet in room 102 (Mme Connors' room) at 12:50 today. We will be discussing upcoming initiatives during this meeting!

    There will be a stoplight dance on Thursday, February 11th at 7pm. Please look for the posters in regards to what to wear. Hope to see everyone there!

     

    Teen Health Centre

    The Hants County Youth Ambassadors are hosting the 3rd annual "Coffee House" on February

    14th.  They are still looking for entertaining acts.  If interested contact Janice in YHC.

    Looking to purge jewelry?  The YHC is looking for donations that will be re-modeled and sold at the Coffee House. Proceeds from this activity go to "Friends of Feral Cats."  If you want to help please see Janice at YHC.

     

    Sports

    Attention all girls interested in playing rugby this year. Learning sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 for the next three weeks. If you want to play but can't make it see Mr. Bryan.

     

    The Avon View Archers will be having a archery tournament on Friday via SKYPE with H. A. Kostash School in Alberta on Friday February 5th.

     

     Wrestlers, please let Mr. Connolly know about your tournament availability this Saturday.

     

    There will be a practice for all those interested in playing Sr. Boys rugby this season today after school in the gymnasium from 3:30-5:30.  Practices will run each week on Monday's and Wednesday’s 3:30-5:30. New players welcome, please bring appropriate gym attire.
