    Main Office

    The last day to request extra grad tickets will be Tuesday, June 21.  Please notify the office before then.

     

    There will be kitten therapy available to students to reduce stress during exam time.  This will be held in Room 116 on Friday, Monday and Tuesday from 11am -1pm.  Come cuddle with the kittens and there will also be a therapy dog for those who would like to go for walks!

     

    Ms. Campbell would like to remind Canadian history students of the prime minister party in her room, 208, today, at the beginning of lunch.  If you received an invitation please bring your appetite.

     

    Ms. Campbell is on the hunt for global history 12 textbooks.  If you borrowed a textbook from her and never returned it, now is your chance to make her day.  Please return global history textbooks to her as soon as possible.

     

    Student Council

    Yearbooks have arrived.  Please pick up your yearbook in Room 108 at lunch.  If you would like to purchase a yearbook for $50 please come to the office.

     

    Prom

    Prom tickets are now available for purchase. Tickets are $25.00 each.

    Student Services

    The Windsor Elms Village is looking for youth volunteers aged 12 and older. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Windsor Elms Village's volunteer team, please contact Jaclyn at (902) 798-2251 ext. 285 or email jaclynsilverwev@gmail.com.

     

    A job opportunity at the Ellershouse Community Hall is available for 2 high school students who will be returning to high school in September, 2016.  Details are on the Student Services website under Student Opportunities or may be picked up at Student Services.

    There will be a blood drive in Windsor on Thursday the 23 of June at the Royal Canadian Legion.  If you are 17 and over you are welcome to donate.  Times are from noon until 3 pm then from 5 pm until 8 pm.  If you are interested contact Janice in the YHC or email Deborah.MacGillivray@blood.ca.  Her email address will be on the bulletin board outside the health centre.

    Students are reminded to check the Exam Schedule posted in the halls and classrooms.  Report any conflicts to your teacher and the main office.  Arrangements will be organized to write at another time.

     

    Today, and tomorrow, here in Windsor at the Community Centre, speakers from across the country will be presenting at a "WWI and Nova Scotia" symposium.  Six of our very own students from AVHS will be presenting at the symposium this afternoon.  From 3:30-5, Willis McCullough-Messom, Dawson Leadbetter, Nic Young, Mikayla Clarke, Michaela Zinck, and Jayma Porter will be leading a presentation about their recent school trip to Canadian battlefields and sites of significance in Europe.  If any students or staff find themselves looking for something to do this rainy afternoon, and would like to attend the AV students' presentation, please feel free to attend, at the Windsor community centre, from 330-5.  The students would love the support.

    The deadline for applications for the RBC award has been extended until this Friday, June 10.  This generous $1000 award is presented annually to a 2016 graduate who is beginning studies in the fall of 2016 in a business degree program or an environmental science degree program.  To be eligible for consideration, you must have a consistent successful academic record of achievement and /or you are a student in need of financial assistance.  Applications are available at Student Services.

    RBC Award

    The Film and Productions 12 students are pleased to be screening twelve short films today (Thursday, June 9st) at lunch in Room 220.  If you missed the screening in the cafeteria or want to watch "Attack of the Gummy Bear" again, come and be part of the audience.  You do not have to be enrolled in Film and Video Productions 12 to attend the screening.  Everyone is welcome to come and watch these Avon View High School films. 

     

    Fine Arts

    Stage Band will rehearse today at the beginning of lunch in the Band Room. This is our last rehearsal of the year so all members must attend.
