  • Morning Announcements

    Student Services

    Grade 12 students interested in Acadia University, there will be a representative from Acadia at Avon View on Tuesday, September 16 during the noon hour in the Seminar room.

     

    Fine Arts

    There will be a brief meeting today at quiet bell for any students interested in playing with the Avon View Brass Ensemble.  The meeting will be in the music room.  If you cannot
    attend but would like to join or get more information, please see Mrs. MacMillan today in either room 104 or 120.

     

    The brass ensemble meeting scheduled for today has been rescheduled for Wednesday at quiet bell.

     

    Sports

    Tryout times for the Avon View Boys hockey team are as follows:  Tuesday Sept 16 at 8 pm and Sunday Sept 21st at 7 pm.   Cost is $50 to be paid at first tryout.  Check your gear and wear it all.  Any questions please see Mr. Popma in room 106. Good Luck!
     

    “Avon View Boys Varsity Volleyball Tryouts will be in the Avon View gym on Tues., Sept 16th and Thurs. Sept 18th from 5:30-7:30pm. 

    Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Tryout will be on Wed. Sept. 17th from 5:30-7:30 on 1 half of the gym (The Varsity Girls Volleyball team will have a practice at the same time on the other court).  If you have any questions, please email lisamacavoy@eastlink.ca .”

    Great defensive battle in Antigonish! Avon View improves to 1-1. It was Antigonish's "Friday night lights" home opener.  Justin Crossley had over 100 yards rushing including a QB draw up the middle for a 40 yrd rushing TD. QB Austin Sabean added another 50 yards rushing and they shared a 2 for 10 on the pass.  Running back Bronson Lee had 8 carries for 40 yards.  Rookie Linebacker Austin States was Superman all night collecting 15 tackles, two
    interceptions and a 40 yard punt return for a touchdown.  Defensive line made up of Luke Jillett, Ryan Harvey, David George and Devin Sexton had great pressure all night and shut down the run game, and had two sacks. Sam Nunn and Johnny Weagle also grabbed interceptions.  Avon View take on West Kings for their first home game of this year this Sunday at 1:00.   Come out and check out the team!

    There will be a meeting for the baseball team at recess in the seminar room. 

     

    Youth Health Centre

    The Youth Health Centre is looking for youth who would like to get involved in teaching healthy sexuality to their peers and younger students.  If you are curious and interested come to the YHC on Friday the 12th of September. This is a great opportunity to learn, have fun and develops new skills.  All students welcome.
