    Mail Office

    Any potential grad student who has NOT given their height to the office, please do so as soon as possible so the grad gowns can be ordered in the right size.

     

    Student Service

    There will be a representative from the Military Police at Avon View today, March 3 from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. in the Seminar Room.  Interested students will want to attend with teacher permission!

    A representative from Saint Mary's University will be at Avon View on Tuesday, March 10 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Seminar Room.  Interested students will want to attend with teacher permission!  Also, their Next Steps Information Session at the Old Orchard Inn has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 5 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  Students and parents who attend will have the opportunity to learn about the options in terms of financing their degree as well as the next steps they should be taking in the enrolment process.  Students who have yet to apply to the university will also have the opportunity to bring
    their official transcript along with a filled out application for admissions on the spot
    where the application fee will be waived.

     
         

     

    A representative from Maritime Business College, Success College and daVinci College (formerly Center for Arts & Technology) will be at Avon View on Thursday March 5 from 12:00 to 1:15 in the Seminar Room.  Students interested in information regarding one or more of these 3 colleges will want to attend with teacher permission.

     

    There will be an AP Orientation presentation in the Seminar Room on Wednesday March 4 at 1:30 p.m.  Interested students may attend with teacher permission.

     

    Pengrowth Scholarships
    The Nova Scotia Department of Energy and Pengrowth Energy Corporation have teamed up to
    provide eight $10 000 university scholarships and eight $2500 NSCC scholarships to
    students pursuing careers in an energy related field. Applications are due on May 1, 2015
    by 4pm and any students interested in applying can come to student services for more
    information.

     N.S.S.S.A. Provincial Conference
    The Nova Scotia Secondary School Students’ Association (N.S.S.S.A.) is dedicated to helping students realize their leadership potential. Student leaders benefit their schools and communities by having the resources to create change. For these reasons, the Valley N.S.S.S.A is proud to invite all Annapolis Valley students in grades 9-12 to attend the upcoming Provincial Conference, being held at St. FX University-Taking Charge 2015 on May 14-17, 2015.
    Provincial Conference is an amazing opportunity for students to make connection with people across the province, learn new skills and tools to become better leaders, and to be exposed to resources available to them across the province and the country.

    safeTALK suicide alertness and awareness training sessions

    The sessions hosted by Communities Addressing Suicide Together and facilitated by
    Compassion Action, are as follows:
    Monday, March 9 EKM Health Centre, Wolfville 6-9 pm
    Monday, March 23 Berwick Town Hall 6-9 pm
    Thursday, March 26 Bear River First Nation 1-4pm

    This training is suitable for anyone and everyone ages 15 and older. It is a brief training – only 3 hrs in duration.

     

     

     

     

    The IODE Provincial Chapter Bursary Fund will give a bursary valued at $500 to a  graduating student who is planning to attend college or university.  This bursary is based on financial need rather than grades.  The deadline is April 30, 2015 and applications may be downloaded at

    Graduating students are reminded that they are responsible for forwarding their first semester final transcript to any post-secondary institution at which they have been accepted.  Student Services does not automatically do this.

    French Department

    Any and all grade 12 students wishing to write the DELF exam must tell Mr. Popma before this Wednesday.  You do not have to pick your level at this time, only identify yourself as a candidate.

     
         

     

    Fine Arts

    Mousetrap rehearsal today onstage from 3:20-5:00pm.  Full cast called EXCEPT Paravicini and Trotter.

     

    Brass ensemble will rehearse today at the beginning of lunch.  This rehearsal is for the trumpet section only.

     

    Sports

    "Time for a huge game everyone!! Lots of support is wanted for the AV Girls hockey team!!
    Tonight in Windsor at 6 pm (If there is a cancellation due to snow AVRSB will move the game to 1pm Thursday, March 5th)
     

    Congratulations to the Avon View Wrestling Team who captured the Sr. Boys Regional Championship last Saturday! 11 of 12 wrestlers qualified to Provincials next weekend.
