    This is a reminder that the applications for the Nova Scotia Power Scholarships are due this Friday, April 29.  This includes the Nova Scotia Power Mi'kmaq Scholarship, the Nova Scotia Power Environmental Scholarship and the Nova Scotia Power Trades Scholarship.

    As well, the IODE Scholarship is due April 30 and the Wessex Scholarship is due May 1.

    Stage Band will rehearse today at the beginning of lunch in the Band Room.

     

    Footloose rehearsal is today after school and Sunday 10-8 the full cast, stage crew, and band are called. This week's lunch time rehearsal for fight choreography has been moved from Friday to Thursday. 

     

    Please check the Google Classroom or outside of room 104 for the full schedule breakdown.

     

    This is a reminder to all staff and students that, in preparation for the show, the stage is now closed until further notice.

     

    French

    All participants in this year's epic showdown of French trivia mastery will meet at quiet bell today in Mr. Popma's room.  Please attend to receive important information regarding departure times and travel arrangements. 

     

    Sports

    There will be a quick Sr. Girls Slow Pitch Meeting today at recess in Mr. Morrison's room, please try to be there.

     

    Avon View Archers will be practicing today Friday April 29th at 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

    The Provincial tournament (May 7th) is only one week away and all archers must return their forms and money to Mr.Wile ASAP.

    Congrats to the boys and girls rugby team who participated in the rothesay New Brunswick rugbyfest.
    The boys placed fourth defeating montague pei and Hampton New Brunswick.  They lost to miramichi in the bronze game.
    The girls team won the tournament for the second year in a row, dominating the competition. They outscored the opposition 80-7. Defeating rival 3 oaks 25-0 in final.

     

    Youth Health Centre

    There will be new and used prom dresses on display and for sale in the foyer during parent-teacher this afternoon and evenings. Someone from New Boundaries will be available to answer any questions.  Students are encouraged to check them out.

     

    Student Services

    Congratulations to Paige Levangie and Ian George. These grade 11 students are the recipients of the Lieutenant Governor Medals which are awarded for community service and commendable grade. Congratulations! Well done!

     

    Ms. Fraser is offering a 7 week career exploration series of workshops. This will help students learn about options for their futures after high school. The workshops will take place every Thursday beginning on April 21st and will run from 11:55-12:45pm.  If you are interested in participating, please sign up in the student services office- spaces are limited. 

     

    Ms. Fraser is offering a 45 minute workshop on Friday, April 22 to help teach students about apartment renting and leases agreements. This workshop will help you to understand a few basic terms, how to avoid pitfalls and what to expect when renting your first apartment. Information is current and reflects lease agreements in the province of Nova Scotia.  The workshop can accommodate 25 students. If there are more than 25 students interested, a second workshop date will be offered.  To participate, sign up in Student Services by Thursday, April 21st!

    Only 3 weeks until AV's 2016 musical, Footloose, hits the stage!  Tickets are now on sale in the main office for the May 5th, 6th, and 7th performances:  $7 for Students and Seniors and $9 for Adults. 

    Buy them early to avoid disappointment.

     

    For all Footloose Crew members -- there will be a brief but very important meeting on Monday at quiet bell in room 104.  All crew members must attend.

     

    Sports

    There will be no archery this week April 15th for the Avon View Archers. There is no school Friday and the gym is unavailable. See you all next Friday April 22nd.
